Billy James Goble

Fellow Artists:

Thanks for taking the time to visit this dynamic Website. I've been asked to write a bio, so I did. Then I was told it had to be my own, so here we go . . .

My name is William James Goble, and I was born April 28th 1964. My father started me drawing at an early age. He would put me on his lap and draw stick figure dogs and cats and fun things like that. I would then trace over them, this being my first art lesson. Around 11 or 12, I won an art contest in church. I thought this was the neatest thing. Later in high school, I won a couple of contests in realistic art. I really don't have a favorite subject, it's whatever moves me at the time. Seeing people's reactions when they look at the art . . . what better inspiration could you have?

My senior year in high school I received a 6 year contract to draw for the State of Colorado. O.K., actually it was a 6 year sentence for armed robbery, but it sounds better the other way. So in the early 80's, I was taught how to tatt by some of the greatest single needle artists around. I loved it . . . a human canvas!

I became so good that I designed a portable battery operated gun to work in some strange places . . . pipe chases, crawl spaces, on the weight pile. I've even worked on some of the guards, of course that is off the record. *smiley face*

By the way, I would like to take the time to thank all of those brave people who allowed me to use them as a sketch pad. However, because of the rampant spread of Hepatitis and AIDS in the prison system, and the lack of sterilization, I no longer tattoo.

Then I met Edward Lee. We became friends and he started me off on drawing flash. A lot of his style is reflected in my Black & Gray. I am also partners with a good friend of mine named Josh. We are currently doing color flash under 'BANE.' You can catch his bio and work on the site when it is up.

Art in any form is spiritual, and I have to thank my spiritual partner and soul mate (you know who you are). And Rachael from Crystal Productions (now one of the owners of Flash2xs.com) . . . you have been so much help, taking me by the hand instead of by the ear. And I want to thank the Academy . . . oops, no Grammy yet. My inspiration also comes from all you professional Artists out there.

Thank you,

William James Goble
