TattooFinder.com artist Brian BurkeyWhen I was really young I remember seeing my dad come home with fresh tattoo work and thinking that it was the coolest thing ever! Not long after that, my brother and I would sneak down to the local tattoo shop in Denver, Colorado where R.J. Rosini slung ink. We would stare at the flash on the walls for hours, or at least until he would chase us off. I was so interested in them that I started drawing tattoo art. I got my first tattoo when I turned 18 and within one year after that I was doing tattoo work myself.

I was introduced to the tattoo world by Bobby Rosini and his son James. By 1994 I was working in a shop in Denver called Nick Mart Tattoo, where I received some of my experience. In 1996 I started freelancing again and went on to drawing flash for myself in 1999. In 2003 I got seriously into drawing flash sets to sell. It has been really cool because I've been doing some art with new designs that I normally wouldn't be doing.

I like to do my gray scale art with graphite pencils. I work with 2B's and 3B's for my darks to get good depth. My lights I use a B and F to get nice grays. For my color work I use Prismacolor Verithins because the colors come out really nice and vibrant. It's a little harder but it's not as messy as the softer pencils, plus you can keep a nice point on them. I also work in other mediums such as painting. Right now I am working in watercolors which is really cool cause it has some similarities to color tattoo work. I really enjoy doing different stuff because the challenge is always there.

I'm currently tattooing at Celebrity Tattoo in Lakewood, Colorado.

I hope you enjoy my artwork!
