English Jonny

Jonathan Pinfield-Wells comes by his nickname quite honestly. Born in England, “English Jonny” came with his family over to The Colonies at the age of 12. He describes drawing as a lifelong passion, and had a knack for it even as a child. He and his family eventually settled down in the state of Michigan. Out of high school, he went to work in the graphic design field. After 5 years, he felt the job didn’t allow for the creativity he needed to further his art skills and he decided to pursue tattooing. His apprenticeship was under master tattooist Dan Collins at Bluz Tattooing in Waterford, MI. He also cites tattooist Matt Hockaday as “an amazing artist and painter who influenced me greatly in my early tattoo years.” Three years later, Jonny met tattooist and artist Gentleman Jim who was influential in teaching him the arts of “dealing with people” and the deeper workings behind tattoo parlors. It was Jim that introduced Jonny to the Cherry Creek Family, the first distributors of his artwork. Jonny remains in Michigan today, where he is married with a beautiful wife and has two wonderful sons.
