My name is Jonathan McGinnis and I am originally from Kansas City, Kansas. Like many of you out there, I have been drawing for most of my life. I have always admired tattoo art, but I did not really get into drawing tattoos until I went to college. It was my little brother that got me interested in drawing tattoo flash. He received his first tattoo while he was a senior in high school, and he has been getting them ever since.

All throughout college I have been working on automatic drawings. An automatic drawing is designed to bring out your subconscious. It is a very spontaneous type of drawing; you do it without any preplanned idea of what the finished work will look like. I found that my automatic drawings were very similar to tattoo flash. I draw upon imagery from my automatic drawing to create my Designs. I like to keep the design simple, but at the same time give it a very unique twist.
