The Mooncussers are a group of friendly artists, fully trained, licensed and experienced in the art and craft of tattooing. We have worked in a variety of tattoo shops around the country, returning to our roots on beautiful Cape Cod when tattooing was legalized here in 2001.

We are primarily a custom tattoo shop, working with each client to develop a unique and personal tattoo design. We will also work with a design or reference you provide us, or you may choose your next piece from our selection of high quality flash tattoo designs. When it comes to sterilization, we always use new needles for each client, autoclave sterilization and disposable inks and supplies.

Collectively, the artists here at Mooncusser Tattoo specialize in a full range of styles, from bold color to black and gray, classic American and Japanese imagery to realistic renderings to abstract tribal images. Whether you are looking for a portrait, a dragon or a classic sailor piece, we do it all.

Andrea X. Tasha

Coming from a family of artists, I’ve always “made things.” Whether the medium is paint on canvas, metal and stones, or charcoal on velum, I’ve always done artwork of some sort. After going to school for Cultural Archeology, I started to realize I didn’t want to be an academic – I wanted to make things again, and I got into tattooing. In 1997 I started tattooing professionally at Rising Dragon in NYC and I’ve been captivated ever since.

Although I love color in tattoos, my real favorite is black and gray, or grayscale tattooing. I feel fortunate to be doing something I love, working with a very talented group of people, and living in “the oldest Art Colony” in the United States.

The life of a tattooer… First of all, I hate to talk about myself – I sound like a jerk-off – but it started in Key West when my roommate Jason Brooks told me that Goldie of Goldie’s Southernmost Tattoos needed a body piercer. (Which is what I did at the time.) But somehow I ended up with a tattoo apprenticeship! Goldie taught me all the basics of tattooing. For the next 8 years I worked with Goldie and his wife Bonnie – some of the best times of my life. Goldie even sold me my first Harley. I left Key West in 2001. Tattooing had been legalized in Massachusetts and I came back to my hometown to help Andrea and Deirdre Tasha open Mooncusser Tattoo Studio.

I enjoy all different styles of tattooing: mostly the ones with color. I get to work with some great tattooers like Andrea Tasha, Kris Smith, and Scott Bruns… and if you don’t like what I have to say, then fuck you, you fucking fuck! There’s nothing to do but to do it.

My name is Kristopher Smith and I grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts. I've been drawing ever since I can remember and professionally tattooing for about 16 years. I've tattooed in in many different places all over the world, including New York City, New Orleans, Johnston City (Tennessee), Prague, and Philadelphia. There have been plenty of places in between those too! I currently work at Mooncusser Tattoo in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
